Private Home Lakeshore Tent Wedding with Beach Arbor

When we received a call for a Tent Rental set up for a wedding at Eagle Bluff in Ludington, MI we were excited. We love setting up for weddings in beautiful locations.

Eagle Bluff, however, has its challenges. The scenery is second to none. It sits high on a bluff over looking Lake Michigan. The waves crashing below give a feel for how high up you stand looking out. Needless to say, this location can also be very windy.

The client was interesting in having both wedding ceremony and wedding reception in the same location. Many of our clients like that for the simplicity and relaxed nature of having one spot.

We set up our Bamboo Beach Arbor with white linen clothe so that the backdrop would be a breathtaking view of blue skies and miles of Lake Michigan. White Resin chairs would be used for the ceremony seating.

The reception tent was a 40 ft. by 80 ft. high peak tent with cathedral window walls. Inside the tent we installed a 16 ft. by 20 ft. Bil Jax Stage at a 2 ft. height for the live band. Next to the stage we set up a 20 ft by 20 ft. dance floor (with subflooring underneath to make it sturdy.) The reception tables were 60 inch round tables with our white linens.

Inside and outside we supplied our cocktail/pub tables for guests to enjoy drinks while standing and admiring the view. The Bartenders were set up underneath the tent at our foldable bars to serve drinks.

Inside the tent we strung LED Cafe lights from the center poles of the tent to the outside side poles to give just the right amount of light throughout the tent for eating, drinking, dancing and making memories.

One week before the wedding set up we start to examine the weather for both the set up day and the event date. Weather on both days can have a major impact on decisions we make for when we set up, number of employees needed and what items we suggest (like fans, or heaters.)

The day of the set up was Friday. We usually like to set up earlier for larger weddings but since this is a rental property that was the earliest we could get in.

Weather didn't look good.

Friday and Saturday were forecasted to be 15 mph wind and 30 mph gusts. On a bluff on Lake Michigan it would likely be even higher. So we immediately brought more employees to set up to make sure there were no surprises. We used stake bars for the stakes connected to the tent to put more stakes in the ground for each connection point. This made sure the tent was sturdy as possible in the event of high winds and rain. We also brought more walls to help block the wind from the north to keep the tent from becoming a wind tunnel.

Although the Friday set up was windy and cold, we managed to get everything set up on time. Everything looked beautiful.

Better yet, Saturday cleared up and the couple had and amazing time with all their guests. They even shared some pictures they took of the wedding set up and an incredible sunset. The client was very pleased and we are so proud of our team at Statewide Party Rentals.
