How To Keep Your Child Safe On Bounce Houses This 4th of July
There are things you can do as a parent to keep your child safe on bounce houses no matter the occasion. The last thing you want is to see them get hurt when they’re just trying to have fun. As professionals who rent inflatables and bounce houses, we want you to know some key safety rules.
- Make sure adult supervision is always present and alert. Parties are fun, but someone needs to be in charge of watching the children while you may not be focused on them every minute. It’s really easy to get distracted at a social gathering. Make sure you have a safety volunteer to keep a close on eye on the kids and to enforce the rules. They need to be vigilant. As a parent, you’ll want to be present in the area as well and check on them often.
- Don’t allow anyone taller than the bounce house to enter. This is a general safety rule because it is easy to crush a smaller child. It’s important to keep the bounce house available to children of the same age during your 4th of July party.
- Never allow shoes inside the bounce house. Even if it doesn’t hurt the bounce house, which it might, shoes can be hard on a child’s nose, head, face, or hands. You don’t want hard shoes knocking into other children inside the bounce house.
- Strong winds, storms, lightning, thunder, or extreme weather can make the bounce house a dangerous place to be. Remove everyone from the bounce house and deflate it. Make sure ground stakes, cement buckets, and other inflatables are also taken care of, especially during high winds.
- Know how your bounce house should be secured to the ground. In case you don’t choose our Statewide Party Rentals bounce house, you should ask how the inflatable is secured to the ground. There should always be 4 stakes that tie the bounce house down in grassy areas. On hard tops, the bounce house should be at minimum secured with 4 cement buckets or large water barrels. In some cases where it is allowed, stakes can be used on a hard top.
